Millson Forestry Service (Timmins), CTV, Country Way Health Food Store (Sault Ste. Marie), Rainbow Concrete (Sudbury), North Bay Toyota and Timmins Honda are joining forces for Earth Day. We all believe that this is an important day.
Join Millson Forestry Service’s Muddy Mark as he travels northern Ontario spreading the word for Earth Day. He will be giving away one seedling per person to all who stop in to see him.
Where to find us:
April 11th in Sault Ste Marie in the Country Way Health Food Store (www.thecountryway.ca)
The seedlings that are being given away for Earth Day are packaged in biodegradable and compostable bags made from eco-friendly plant based products. The bags meet FDA standards and are certified by Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) and DIN Certco, meet ASTM D6400 and EN 13432.
The plant based packaging products are made from corn. The corn is grown, harvested, cooked and ground to extract the starch. A micro organic process then ferments the corn creating lactic acid. The acid is then heated creating lactide monomers. The lactide molecules are opened and linked into polylactide polymers. The result is a natural plastic in pellet form. The pellets are converted into crystal clear plastic film and then into bags. These bags came from Toronto and we have planted Oxygen trees to offset the delivery costs.
The labels on the plant based packaging is also green. It is made from green materials, FSC certified paper and recyclable adhesive. The factories where the labels are produced are powered by wind, water and bio-mass. The packaging the labels were sent in is made of 100% recycled corrugate cardboard and the label company itself has offset the delivery.
This packaging can be used for any special occasion tree.
